If you’re in the market for a new sports car with the perfect blend of power and affordability, Oxmoor Ford Lincoln has the perfect model in stock.

2020 Ford Mustang Trim Levels

The Mustang coupe is offered in eight trims: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, Bullitt, Shelby GT350, Shelby GT350R, and Shelby GT500. The convertible body style is available in EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, and GT Premium.

Standard features offered on the 2020 Mustang EcoBoost include keyless entry and ignition, 17-inch wheels, a six-speaker sound system, and a 4.2-inch center display screen. This base model also features FordPass Connect, which comes with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, remote start, and remote services.

Stepping up to the EcoBoost Premium gets you many of the same features, but adds leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, a nine-speaker sound system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EcoBoost Premium also boasts an 8-inch touch screen with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, power-adjustable front seats, and an upgraded cabin trim.

The GT and GT Premium trims go a step further in terms of performance and creature comforts. Both offer 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, and power-adjustable front seats.

The Bullitt trim mirrors the GT Premium’s additions but differs in terms of aesthetics. Instead, the Bullitt gets special wheels and a trim-specific Highland Green paint option.

The Shelby models upgrade the sound system to a 12-speaker Bang and Olufsen setup with a subwoofer in the trunk. Each Shelby also features a vinyl racing stripe.

Muscle-Car Power and Performance

If you’re interested in a 2020 Mustang, no doubt you’re focused just as much on the car’s engine as its overall looks.

The base EcoBoost has a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This setup is paired with a six-speed manual transmission to give you that authentic sports-car feel, although you can opt for a 10-speed automatic. The EcoBoost also features launch control with the manual gearbox, a limited-slip rear differential, and an electronic line-lock to produce burnouts at the track.

Both EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium trims can be paired with an optional High Performance package, which adds 20 horsepower thanks to a high-performance version of the 2.3-liter engine. This package also incorporates 19-inch wheels, summer tires, larger brakes with four-piston calipers, a larger radiator, and a bigger rear spoiler. You’ll also enjoy track-oriented suspension tuning.

The GT and GT Premium models step up the performance game with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine rated at 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. You can also add a GT Performance package and Level 2 Performance package to score upgraded brakes and tires.

For the Bullitt trim, Ford adds 20 extra horsepower to the V-8 engine, but that’s the only difference in terms of power and performance.

For a truly powerful ride, opt for one of the Shelby models. The GT350’s V-8 boasts 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, while the GT350R gets 527 horsepower. The GT500 packs a supercharged V-8 engine that gets an astonishing 750 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque.

Interior Aesthetics and Comfort

While sports cars aren’t exactly known for their spacious interiors, the 2020 Mustang does boast an evolutionary interior design that’s reminiscent of its vintage predecessors without sacrificing comfort or quality. Admittedly, the base trims do have plastic finishes throughout, and backseat passengers won’t find much headroom, but upper trims have an unbeatable premium feel that makes them well worth the upgrade.

The 2020 Mustang seats four people, although the GT trims only seat two. Some of the Mustang’s best interior options include heated and cooled front seats, a fully configurable LCD digital cluster, driver’s seat memory settings, a heated steering wheel, and Recaro front sport seats.

If you don’t want to upgrade, the base model comes with durable cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and four-way manually adjustable front seats. Enjoy plenty of support and comfort in the front seats, or upgrade to seats with extra side bolstering for a tighter, more racecar-like feel. Those with small children will also appreciate the car’s two complete sets of LATCH connectors in the back.

Cargo and Storage Space

Sports cars, like the Mustang, aren’t exactly known for hauling cargo, but Ford has incorporated a decent amount of trunk space for this class. All 2020 coupe models have 13.5 cubic feet of space, while convertibles get 11.4 cubic feet.

Best of all, the Mustang’s trunk offers a wide opening to better accommodate groceries or luggage, and the rear seats fold down to give you extra room when needed. Overall, the trunk is bigger than you might expect, especially if you’re shopping around for a coupe.

Interior storage options are limited, but adequate, with the expected cupholders and glovebox laid out for convenience.

Safety Features

The 2020 Ford Mustang has excelled in crash tests, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives it a five-star overall safety rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also gave it good or acceptable marks in all areas except in the LATCH system’s ease of use, as securing a child’s seat in the tight rear seat can be tricky.

Notable safety features on the model include antilock brakes, stability control, front- and side-impact air bags, knee air bags, overhead air bags, and seatbelt pre-tensioners. Thanks to a high-tech security system, the Mustang can detect intrusions and disable the ignition in the event of attempted theft.

Plus, with so many driver-assistance technologies available across trim levels, you can enjoy such features as forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

Overall, the 2020 Ford Mustang is an exciting, stylish, and safe model with everything you can hope for in a high-performing, yet affordable, sports car. When you’re ready to take the new Mustang for a spin, stop by Oxmoor Ford Lincoln for a test drive.
